I am a recent convert to coffee. I learned to love my morning wake up call in my late 20’s and now I’m a raving fan. Hot cold, warm or spiced, I’ll drink it. But I’m picky about one thing: quality.
I had the opportunity to try Millstone Mayan Black Onyx Dark Roast coffee. I like my coffee STRONG…..no see through thin stuff for me. If I can see my hand on the other side, or the wall, or whatever, I’ll pass. My wife says that I like my coffee to be strong enough to walk. I discovered the Mokka pot recently and LOVE IT!! What’s a Mokka Pot you say??? Well, it is a coffee making apparatus, where you put water in the bottom part, coffee grounds in the middle, and set it on the stove to brew and the coffee comes up through a spigot in the middle. What you get out of it, is nothing short of coffee heaven. You can make coffee as weak or as strong as you like it. It’s also nice for just me.
On this particular morning, I pulled out the Mokka Pot and I set it up. I opened the bag of Millstone Mayan Black Onyx, organic coffee and took a whiff. That has to be one of my most favorite things about opening a new container of coffee. That first smell of coffee that hits you in the face. Really gets you going and makes you want to have a fantastic day.
After I placed my Millstone Coffee on the stove, started my breakfast recipe. It’s a simple and easy stuffed biscuit recipe that pairs PERFECTLY with some great coffee. I grab a can of flaky biscuits and a cupcake tin. I peel away a thin layer and place it into the cupcake tin. Then add a full egg, then another layer of biscuit, then ham, then another layer of biscuit, then some cheese. 15 minutes later baked at 350F, I’ve got breakfast.
By that time, I hear the slight whistle of the Mokka Pot when the coffee starts to come into the top section. When the top part was fully steaming. I removed it from the heat and opened the lid to find a beautiful cup of coffee that was not see through and smelled delicious. I could not wait to pour it in my cup and give it a taste! I added my milk and sweetener of choice and boy was I not disappointed. The coffee was strong and smooth, and had a very robust coffee flavor. I will definitely be visiting the Millstone Mayan Black Onyx roast again!
I trust Millstone to deliver quality, taste and that jump-start I need to start my day.
