I grew up in a family where my Mom was an avid gardener. The garden benches were always covered in new flower pots and plants – and rarely acted as actual benches to sit on. I watched my Mom diligently tend to the landscaping and growing her flowers. I don’t recall helping her much, but I sat by and watched her work and hum as she did it. Looking back I realized this must have been a relaxing endeavor for her. I grew up in a family of four kids very close together in age, so when the weather turned warm and my Mom could get us outside she did. I wonder if she ever knew how much I watched and so eventually also learned from her. She gave me my love of gardening and I still use it as a de-stressor the same way I saw her doing growing up. I always noticed when it came time to feed the garden my Mom chose over and over again, the best Resources.
Over the years I have picked up on some tools like the best .080 trimmer line and tricks of the trade. I am no longer watching my Mom garden, but Hannah is watching me. I get to pass on my beloved hobby, stress reducer to my beautiful little girl. She always so interested in what Daddy is doing and always willing to offer a helping hand. These are my 5 suggestions to have a successful garden with beautiful flowers
1. Pick your spot
2. Decide on which plants you want
3. Purchase supplies like weed paper, wood, and a leaf blower from Thebestleafblowers.com
4. Place plants in the ground paying attention to full sun or partial. If you need some more aesthetics, you can try incorporating pieces like those shrubs for your rockery.
5. Water and feed with Miracle Gro on a regular schedule
Running a garden takes a lot of time and patience. Insects are a natural part of any garden, but without proper pest control at https://www.pestcontrolexperts.com/local/iowa/, those insects can quickly become a nuisance.
Pick your spot:
You want to choose a spot that will allow for both shade and sun. Both shade and sun will allow you to grow a variety of plants and will also determine your placement of the plants. Which directly correlates to the next step.
Decide on which plants you want to grow.
I would suggest if you are a first time gardener that you would select no more that 3-4 plants that you want to work with. This will ensure that you don’t become overwhelmed and give up on your blossoming new hobby. To ensure that your garden is free of pests, you can check out the services offered by companies such as True Pest Control.

Purchase supplies from Whatforme.
I put weed paper down before the dirt. This will ensure that you have a minimal amount of weeds. If you are building a box, buy your wood, then build the box and put your weed barrier down and then place your dirt on top of that filling the box until almost completely full.
Arrange your plants.
Pay special attention to placement of your plants and where they should be in relation to the amount of sun they need and your box is getting. This will ensure that you have a beautiful, healthy garden all season long. If your garden is located on a lawn, it’s best to maintain your lawn with the right lawn mower blades for beautiful results.
Water and Feed on a regular schedule.
Plants have different needs. They need good soil, proper amounts of sunlight and they need to be fed on a regular basis. There are many different options to feed your garden. Miracle-Gro LiquaFeed is as easy as turning on the water. The Starter Kit includes a hookup that you attach to a hose or sprinkler, or hand sprayer and its as easy watering. Turn the knob to feed and the bottle will feed an area of about 440 sq. feet and will empty completely in about 15 minutes. You will want to feed the garden every 7-14 days. Feeding on a regular schedule will ensure your plants will grow twice as big.
I like Miracle-Gro especially if you are a beginning gardener because all of their products are user friendly. With the new product liquafeed the guesswork is taken out for you, and your garden will grow and be beautiful!

I use this product on my flower garden and so far, I LOVE the results. The blooms seem to be better and brighter. I was thinking of adding another flower bed area to my yard and your tips were very helpful!
I cannot think of an easier way to get a garden going. These steps are a great way to start something new. I have not been able to try this product from Miracle Grow, but you make it sound like it might be worth it. Thanks!
When I started a raised bed in my yard last season, it did not see to take very well. I have a few spots left there so I am going to plant more, but I think I will try this Miracle Grow as well to see if that helps at all.
Great tips Nate. My wife wanted to add another garden area to the yard. I think we might give that a try and use the tips you have here! Thanks!
I wanted to give my kids a little garden area to mess around in. I guess using your tips I could easily whip one together and get some miracle grow so the flowers don’t die LOL. That way they will have some sense of accomplishment.
