We have been completely stressed around here lately. We decided early on in the summer to put our house on the market. Let me tell that selling a home you have lived in for 8+years is not for the faint of heart. We have scrubbed, cleaned and de-cluttered the whole house from top to bottom. Not to mention we still live here. So anytime, I get a call saying that someone wants to see the house, we have to commence cleaning and scrubbing. So it’s a constant daily thing because if you let it get too far behind it will be possible to get it ready for a showing.
I find that this process has put us all a bit on edge. We are all a little short and quippy, Hannah is going through toy withdrawal, and therefore cranky and “bored”. My wife is exhausted from all the constant upkeep. She not thrilled that this is not the summer break and wanted to spend with Hannah, but we have to keep things perfect for potential buyers. In doing that it takes a toll on our family.
Sometimes, you just sometimes we need a break; we need fun to break through the stressful times. Laughter is the medicine that heals the weary heart, soul, and mind. I think nothing induces fun, and screams fun more than ice cream Sundaes!!!! I can’t remember a time growing up when I had a sundae and afterwards I didn’t leave with a smile on my face. It’s a treat, a special time, a time to enjoy each others company, a time to relax and this is exactly what we needed as a family, a few minutes to sit back make sundaes and enjoy each other and a little sweet treat.
So I decided that today would be our #sundaefundae and on my way home from work I would stop by Walmart and grab all our Smucker’s® Sundae supplies we would need. I think a Bacon Brownie Sundae could make almost anyone happy, even in the midst of our packing and cleaning. I ran into Walmart and the assortment of sundae toppings were abundant so I picked the Smucker’s® Chocolate and Caramel Toppings, and grabbed a box of brownie mix, and my wife’s favorite ice cream. When I walked into the impeccably clean house that my wife had spent all day cleaning, and I announced we were having ice cream sundaes. I could literally see the stress melt away. Of course Hannah was so excited she could barely stand still. (She immediately went for her sprinkles).
We baked the brownies, chopped the pecans, cooked the bacon, did I say bacon? Put it all together with some delicious vanilla ice cream and then added Smucker’s® Chocolate and Caramel Toppings. The result, pure perfection.
We laughed and ate our sundaes and literally turned this stressful weeknight into a relaxing Sundae. If you are stressed and need a fun idea to do with your family, head to Walmart and pick up some Smucker’s® Ice Cream topping. It’s a bottle full of smiles.
