I have very fond memories of my Nanny growing up. I can still remember spending every Saturday with her. We would go out yard saleing and then to breakfast. I would end up in the summer spending the night over there during the summer when she didn’t have to work the next day and I loved every minute of it.
We would wake up and my nanny would have to have her coffee and she drank it black. Now I love my coffee but I like a little coffee with my cream and sugar. We would fry up some zucchini and have it with some eggs and just talking about it the smell starts to permeate my senses. One of the things she liked to do for dinner was grill.
I think grilling has always been a huge part of my family’s way of gathering when the weather is warm. One of the best things I have ever had on the grill my grandmother introduced me to was bacon. That’s right, bacon. Just hearing the sizzle of that beautiful piece of meat on the grill and I begin to salivate. I don’t know the chemistry behind it but making bacon on the grill just elevates it to a new taste level you didn’t think possible. Good food like this are just awesome to cook in an outdoor kitchen.
I want to continue the grilling tradition in my own family and I wanted to get a good quality bacon so that I can elicit some of those nostalgic memories in Hannah and my wife. I ran to Walmart for a quick stop and came across Wright Brand Bacon. Immediately the thickness of the cut caught my eye and I knew this would be a wonderful bacon to put on the grill. I bought a few more things I needed and headed home. I was excited.
I decided on the way home I would make one of my Nannys more decadent recipes and I would coat it with a brown sugar mustard BBQ sauce. Begin salivating…..NOW. I was excited to enlist the whole family to help! I prepared the brown sugar mustard sauce and tasted it to make sure it had just the right flavor. I then went out and preheated the grill turning the flame half way down. I gave it about 5 minutes and then place the bacon on the grill long ways and once it was down you don’t bother it. The bacon will release when it’s ready to turn. Once the bacon is down I closed the lid for 3-4 minutes and then flip if ready. Once it’s flipped I begin to coat with the sauce. Flipping one final time to coat with sauce on the other side.
The result is awesomeness that will transform your bacon experience. The Wright Brand bacon was the perfect bacon to use for this grilling recipe because of the amazing quality and the thickness of the bacon. It was able to stand up to being cooked and it held on to the sauce as well. Give Wright Brand bacon a try for your Summer grilling recipes.
