I think the favorite part of the year for me has to be Christmas time. I am a giver by nature, I love giving gifts and seeing faces light up. I can’t wait for the tree to go up, though its always a battle for what color of lights that will go on the tree. (I like white lights, my wife likes multi-color lights.) But honestly, I love the tree no matter what lights go on it, my wife and I will sit in the dark at night and just look at the glow. I don’t know why Christmas lights brings such a warm and fuzzy feeling, oh but they do. I love it!
We have lots of family and friends. Its always a struggle to keep balance on what the Christmas season is all about, being with family and friends, being thankful, and not going broke trying to give all our loved ones gifts. So my wife and I started discussing what we could do that would be meaningful gifts to give out, without breaking our Christmas budget. We decided to go to Walmart and get some ingredients and make some delicious candy to give away to our loved ones.
I have always enjoyed the quality of Kraft products and even more I love the prices at Walmart. I knew going in that I wanted to make a kind of chocolate peanut brittle that I could put into mason jars and wrap them up like little bows. I also knew that Kraft makes all the products I would need to make this tasty treat! I headed to the baking aisle to see what I could find. I found Baker’s Semi Sweet chocolate, mini Jet Puffed Marshmallows, Peanuts Honey Roasted Peanuts and Kraft Melting Caramels. I also grabbed my favorite coffee Maxwell House! Coffee and Chocolate are perfect partners! I just knew I had the perfect ingredients and at a wonderful price to make a tasty treat!
Ingredients:
2 packages of Bakers Semi Sweet Chocolate
1 package of Kraft Melting Caramels
½ bag of Jet Puffed Mini Marshmallows
½ container of Peanuts honey roasted nuts
¼ cup of brewed Maxwell House Coffee
Directions:
In a double boiler melt together the brewing coffee, chocolate, and caramel. Using a candy thermometer heat over medium heat until hard crack temperature. Be sure to not do this over too high a temperature or you will burn your chocolate. This will take a while, be patient. Remove from heat and quickly stir in marshmallows and nuts. On a thin tray or cookie sheet lined with parchment spread evenly in one layer. Put in fridge to cool and harden. When its hard, break apart and place into a mason jar decorated with a ribbon and you will have a perfect gift!
These are delicious little treats that I am sure you and your loved ones will enjoy! Find these Kraft products at your local Walmart! #TasteTheSeason #CollectiveBias
