My 5-year-old daughter loves to color. I will often find our printer void of paper because she will be drawing and doodling. As a dad, I love to see her drawings, and inspire and encourage her to do more. So when our Color Alive coloring books from Crayola arrived, she immediately laid claim to them.
I have to admit I was a little skeptical. I had not seen any of the advertisements so when they say ‘the color comes alive,’ I truly didn’t know what that meant. Hannah opened the package, while I read the instructions. As she finished, I had downloaded the Crayola Color Alive app and tried to explain to her that her drawing would come to life. She looked at me, pursed her lips and said with a slightly doubting tone, “really?”
I followed the instructions for the Action Coloring Pages and there before our eyes we saw her fairy come to live and Hannah’s reaction was priceless. She became completely mesmerized by the fairy and the fact that she could Bring Your Coloring To Life . She could interact with her, move her, and watch her fly around. Amazingly, she was very accurate to what she draw. One leg was purple, hair was pink and so on. The fairy wasn’t just a pre-generated drawing, it was HER drawing. I told my wife later that Crayola is going to change coloring forever. It was something so unique and perfect for my daughter I couldn’t believe it.
As you can see, Hannah enjoyed it.
As a parent of an artistic child I was so impressed at the quality, ease of use and simplicity of the app. My daughter figured out how to use it quickly and was off to really color some amazing photos. She now comes running down the hall showing us what new creation she has made, ‘alive’ in the real world.
Hannah was so in love with her new coloring books, I decided to even make a recipe! Hannah helped create her own edible fake crayons. It’s just a simple pretzel stick dipped in different colors of chocolate. It’s simple and easy for any kid to do. The trick with making them is how they dry. I got a cardboard box, and pushed a toothpick in every pretzel to make them dippable and easy to dry. I printed out some cute generic labels and Hannah couldn’t wait to enjoy her snack and color.
1. Crayola is changing the way kids color and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
