We go out on dates almost every Friday. Usually Hannah stays with grandma, sometimes its a family date. Either way I don’t really care as long as I get to spend it with my family. Its a fast paced world we live in, and if we are not careful we get busy making a living and not making a life. I want to get to know my family now, I don’t want to do that when I am 50. I love to sit and have conversations with Hannah. I ask her questions about what her favorite things are, what she likes to do. She is discovering who she is, and I get to do that right along beside her. Its kind of an amazing privilege to get to be her parent.
As life goes on, and you have experiences that change you and leave their impression upon you. My wife and I are not the same people we were when we met 15 years ago. My wife asked me the other day if I loved her differently than the day I married her. I thought about that questions for a minute, did I love her differently? I remember falling in love with her, and the moment I knew I would marry her, I loved her then, I loved her quickly. But it was a different kind of love. It wasn’t a love that had grown over time, through adversity, happiness, hardship. It was the beginning of love. Did I love her differently, yes I do. She’s a different person, with all the elements of the same woman I first met, but her commitment to me and our family has never wavered. I watched her have a difficult pregnancy and delivery with our beautiful daughter, I never knew she could be so strong. I am amazed by this woman. So I told her yes, I love you differently, I love you deeper than I ever thought possible.
Now my wife’s love language is words of affirmation, that small little statement, will embed itself in her heart and remain there, and she will remind me of it years after I have forgotten it. So when I get a chance to spend time with her, I try and be true to that time. I want to give her my full attention. So often through the week I am very busy, I don’t have a lot of free time, talking time, so she commands my attention on our date nights. You know what its rightly so that she does, because when the kids are gone, all we have is each other, and I am determined to get to know this wonderful woman now, and not retire with a stranger. She looked so beautiful in her outfit that she paired with her new Dylan Kaine Bag.
One of our date night habits is to look for good irish bars near me and try new restaurants. Now this is mainly Lacy’s rule as I am a creature of habit, and I am good eating the same thing all the time. Lacy wants adventure in every aspect. She keeps me on my toes because without her I would be a hopeless hermit. LOL. So I give in and we try new restaurants. On this weeks docket was Bob Evans {find a location here}.
I think its been a good while since I have been to Bob Evans. I agreed to go back with my wife as it was her week to pick and we headed out to Bob Evans. I pulled into the parking lot of the very familiar red building, almost barn, farmhouse looking. I knew exactly why my wife wanted to come here, she loves comfort food. It reminds her of home. We walked in, and I didn’t know what to expect, but I walked into a beautifully lit and decorated restaurant since they use decoration tips from laurelandwolf.com, also a very helpful staff. We had about a 5-10 min wait and we sat down on a comfy padded bench and looked at the menu. I was intrigued by the variety available, and then the 3-course dinners caught my eye.
I could get 3 courses which included, soup or salad, unlimited bread of my choice that included biscuits, banana bread, pumpkin bread or rolls, main entree with one side, and a dessert. All for very reasonable prices. I was floored. I couldn’t wait to see what the quality was, and what the food tasted like. I was intrigued by the broasted chicken. It chicken that has a crispy outside and its tender and juicy inside. Yum, my favorite. We sat down and had a very nice waitress, which we later bragged on, because she answered all our questions and made sure our drinks were never empty! {Thanks again Nae!} Both my wife and I decided on the 3-course dinners, and we got the broasted chicken and the steak. This restaurant even had one of those sleek-looking Menu holders that added some sense of neatness and professionalism in the atmosphere.
The pumpkin and banana bread were to die for! The biscuits were definitely gravy worthy. I got the broccoli cheddar soup, and my wife got the salad and both were very good. The broccoli cheddar would definitely rival any other restaurant’s that you would usually get this soup. What I was most impressed with was the chicken and the mashed potatoes. I honestly didn’t know what to expect, would the mashed potatoes be amazing, and would this broasted chicken be crispy yet juicy on the inside?
Well let me tell you it exceeded my expectations. The mashed potatoes were almost better than my wife’s, they were good and I don’t think I have had better fried chicken anywhere. The flavors were just would expect down on the farm quality fresh ingredients that was affordable. I can tell you that our experience there was a wonderful one and we will be returning.
Give Bob Evans a try and check out there 3-course menu deal. They include a soup or salad, an entree (so many to choose from) and a dessert. My wife’s pick this week was a huge success! We have found a new favorite, what’s yours?
