When I moved to here to Cincinnati, all things were new to me. I was a child who grew up the first 10 years of his life mostly in Kansas, so Northern KY, Cincinnati area and customs were all new to me. Cincinnati and the Northern KY area historically were and still is a very German influenced region. Out of that very rich heritage came some quite some quite different local cuisines such as Goetta, and something that has infiltrated my family as a favorite, Cincinnati Chili.
Now, I know what you are thinking, Chili, really, what can be so different about that? Well I assure you its nothing like any chili you have ever tasted. Now depending on what parts of Cincinnati you are from can dictate just how you like your Cincinnati chili, and which maker of it you prefer. There are three main different fast food restaurants that have popped up and their recipes, while similar are quite different. But one thing they can all agree on, and all do, is pile on high the sharp cheddar cheese. It truly is the cheese that makes this recipe.
My wife, since we have been married has learned to make this Cincinnati treasure. She likes to be able to figure out recipes and make them at home. So my wife set out to figure out this secret recipe of Cincinnati chili. After a few trials and fails, I am happy to report it has been figured out! Now you can research the recipe online and you will see different variations of this recipe. But I have to say that I do really enjoy my wife’s recipe and its pretty spot on to the recipe you would get in a restaurant.
So one of the things that truly makes this dish as I stated above is that cheese. Its amazing and piled high and you really need to make sure you have a high quality shredded cheese to top the deliciousness. Time after time we choose Sargento Naturals Sharp Shredded cheese. This quality cheese piled up on this Cincinnati cuisine truly is the addition that puts this dish over the top. If you have lack luster cheese, then your chili will simply not have that special flavor you expect. Sargento Shredded Cheeses do not disappoint.
