Spaghetti aglio e olio which translated in English to “spaghetti with garlic and oil” is an authentic italian food, coming from Naples in southern Italy. The original version of the dish is made by sauteeing minced garlic in olive oil combined with red chili flakes and then finally tossed with spaghetti. Parsley is often added as a garnish. In this recipe, I also added chicken and cheese, which aren’t found in some traditional recipes.

First, let me say my wife has already requested this meal again. It’s so simple, so easy, so FAST and delicious that it has quickly become a favorite in our home. The depth of flavor in truly astonishing. The garlic really comes out and with just a dash of red pepper flakes, you feel a bit of heat without it being overpowering.

The dish comes together quickly, and is truly a yummy addition to any weeknight.

For our family, it felt like we were eating on a plaza in Italy. My little one even commented that the sauce was good. Guys, it’s just a good oil olive. So let’s talk about the oil for a second. It’s NEW brand available at Kroger family stores called Hemisfares. Kroger is committing to bring it more authentic and organic products to their stores (yea!) so make sure to stop in.

They often have cool ‘country’ events. Earlier this year it was the Taste of Mexico and now it’s the Taste of Italy. I’ve been impressed so far with the Hemisfares brand and look forward to trying other products.

I came home tonight craving pasta. Originally I was going to make buttered noodles but then I came across this recipe and changed my mind! Adding in some veggies.. can’t wait to enjoy!
A simple delicious dinner. I did add a pound of shrimp which I had quickly sautéed in olive oil first. Next time I might add some anchovies.
