In our family we are huge fans of “mini” desserts. All the flavors of a full size dish with built in portion control. This Mini Cherry Cobbler recipe is no exception all the flavor in a one serving size. You do have to keep an eye out of overzealous husbands making multiple trips back for cobbler refills.
These miniature cobblers bake up perfectly with crusty edges and warm soft cherry filling on top (after you flip them out of the pan). They also pair perfectly with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Putting the ice cream or whipped cream atop the cobbler while it still warm creates a sauce you’ll want to run your finger through to make sure you don’t leave anything behind. Trust me, is you love cherry cobbler, you will adore these bite size pieces of heaven!
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ cup agave
- ½ cup all purpose flour
- ½ cup whole wheat pastry flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- a dash of salt
- ¾ cup milk
- dash of nutmeg and cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla
- ½ stick of melted butter
- brown sugar
- cinnamon
- 1 can cherries
- Preheat the oven to 350 F
- Put 1 tsp of melted butter into each regular size muffin tin.
- Combine the first 9 ingredients by hand… sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and milk.
- Put 2 tbsp of batter into each regular size muffin tin… on top of the melted butter.
- Then put 1 tbsp pitted cherries on top of the batter.
- Sprinkle with brown sugar and then cinnamon.
- Bake the regular size muffin tins for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Let them cool almost completely before taking out of pan
Canned cherries. .. do you mean canned cherry pie filling or actual canned cherries. Which if it is the latter I don’t recall ever seeing in our grocery stores in Canada.

I used canned cherries. In my local grocery store I actually find them in either the canned food aisle or next to the apple sauce, diced peaches etc. You could always try using frozen cherries with a simple syrup reduction. Sounds like something I might have to give a try!
