Since I have become a responsible adult and parent, I see the world a little differently. I think that many people today take life and people for granted. I want to raise Hannah differently, I want to make myself into the best person I can be. I want to focus on being the good that I want to see in other people. Now I know thats a tall order, and I will fail miserably over and over. But that won’t stop me from trying.

When I decided to embark on this crusade I decided the best place to begin appreciating those around me is at home. I grew up with a stay-at-home mother. I think that there is no more under appreciated role than that of a stay-at-home mom. Society jokes that they laze around and eat bon bons. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. Mom are teachers, chefs, drivers, nurses, maids, assistants, leaders, nurtures, enforcers, and everything else in between. There’s is a job that is 24/7 and never ceases to be finished. They tackle mountains of laundry, while simultaneously putting nutritious meals on the table, and packing lunches. What other job requires you to do all of that and make sure every one has their home work finished, and in bed on time. Moms are invaluable. But I started thinking, do I value my wife enough for all of her jobs? Did I thank my Mother enough? How could I show my appreciation for all the work my wife does, and all the things my Mom has done for me though out my life? I came up with Mom appreciation jars.

I started thinking one day while shopping at Kroger what could I put in these Mom appreciation jars. I just wanted something to show my affection and my appreciation for these women who have done so much for me in my life.

I came across the Extra® gum in the candy aisle. I had never seen these big pack of gum before its the new Extra® 35-stick pack in spearmint and polar ice flavor®. I new I wanted these in my Mom appreciation jars because these women have been “Extra®” to me and so much more.

I wanted to give both of them items they could use, and make them take time for themselves. I added in items like pumice stone for those well deserved quiet baths, nail polish, gift card for movies or music. I put in a bath poof, nail file, clippers and of course Extra® Gum because they have given me so much Extra in my life. I really wanted these Mom Appreciation jars to be something that they took time out for them, and just relaxed. The beauty of these is that you can really cater them to the special woman or person in your life and put totally different items in there depending on what that person likes.

I truly believe changing the world starts with appreciating those nearest and dearest to you. I want to make sure I am taking the time to appreciate my wife, and tell my Mother thank you for all those years of sacrifice she put forth for our family. Extra® gum helped me make the days of two women in my life a little bright and a little Extra®. I also find that when I give my wife a little extra time, and take that time to show her appreciation, I get so much more in return. #GIVEEXTRAGETEXTRA
