Its that time of year again. A chill is in the air and Halloween is just around the corner. When I walk into Walmart and see all of the candy, I can’t help but pick up a bag. I love Starburst® and Skittles® so I go for the Wrigley Monster Stash 315ct bag of candy. Loaded with two different types of Skittles, two different types of Starbursts and all of the Lifesavers you can imagine, I’m a happy camper.
Now, the great theme of Halloween is really giving right? We give out candy, we give people frights, so I wanted to bring to your attention a really cool thing MARS is doing. It’s called #BOOItForward.
The process is simple:
1. Print this out and fold it over.
2. Get a bundle of candy ready.
3. Secretly gift it for a friend, coworker, family member, etc.
4. Encourage through the note, they pay-it-forward.
On top of my BOO’ing activity, I decided to create a party, fit for any monster or ghost. All of my supplies were purchased at Walmart, which makes shopping for a Halloween party super easy.

On top of the candy, I wanted to make something ghoulish but gift-able. If I wanted to include it in my #BOOItForward gifts I could! Solution: cupcakes. These cupcakes are super simple, it’s just a normal chocolate cake. If you are in a hurry, just use a box cake mix. The magic and mystery happen with the icing.

The basic buttercream recipe I always stick to is 3:2:1. That translates to 3 cups of powdered sugar, 2 sticks of butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. That results in a stiff buttercream every single time. For the cupcakes I tripled the recipe, which allowed me to frost about 20-22 cupcakes.

If you are curious about why I selected the colors I did, it’s simple: Skittles®. Every cupcake represents a color of the Skittles® rainbow. I used different frosting tips to accomplish different textures and picked up some candy eyes in the baking section at Walmart.

The frosting is super easy to make, and the decorating doesn’t take much time at all.
Bam, you’ve got a party fit for a monster.
I encourage you to throw a party this season. Get out and surprise your neighbors with a fun BOO Kit. Brighten someone’s day and make them smile.
