We love Halloween! Nathan always dresses up as a cow, complete with utters! Hannah is a different character every year, and I think sometimes she is more excited about Halloween than any other holiday! As soon as school starts back the conversations begin that she cannot wait until Halloween and simply can’t decide what costume she wants. I haven’t really dressed up for Halloween, but this year I am going as Maleficent, shhhh…..Hannah doesn’t know. It is sure to be a fun filled family evening.

We always go to my Bestie’s house and trick-or-treat with her family. This is something we have always done since our kids are so close in age. So, naturally, of course we get together and have something to eat while there! By sheer nature of what I do being a food blogger and it being that time of year, I almost always have something tasty waiting in the wings for us to eat! One of my favorite parts about holiday cooking is the decor!! You can dress up a recipe or a photo with just a little bit of added holiday spirit.

This year I am going to bring Skeleton Cupcakes, just like the ones from www.angesdesucre.com/collections/baby-shower-cakes. These are a delicious chocolate, peanut butter, butterfinger, cupcake topped with a homemade buttercream rolled in crushed butterfinger and topped with a limited edition Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups Skulls Fun-Size. WHOA! That is a mouthful of words and yumminess! With holiday decor its often the tiniest of details that can make the most difference and can really jazz up your presentation. The peanut butter skulls are creepy on their own, but I dusted them with a little bit of edible metallic dust, and put a dot of red icing in the eyes, and they went from creepy to a bit scary and it was so simple to do!

Butterfinger has long been a favorite candy of mine. If I am going to have a candy I want it to definitely be a peanut butter chocolate candy. These Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups Skulls Fun-Size do not disappoint. You get all the flavor of the butterfinger, in a smooth and creamy bite size bite. The sheer poppability of these candies will keep you coming back for more. There are traditional butterfinger pieces in the candy so you still get some of that familiar crunch. I personally love these!! They will surely make you the hit of the street on halloween, I mean who doesn’t want to be the favorite house for candy! Plus I am going to use these for the candy tax. You know “candy tax” for when I am checking the candy to make sure it’s all “safe” and I secretly slide my favorites into my pocket………eeeevviiilll I know. I guess I will just match my costume this year….lol

Make these cupcakes and pick up some simple decor, like scary branches, and get these skull peanut butter cups, and with just a little creativity you can have a delightfully scary treat for friends and family.

Ingredients:
One chocolate cake mix
3 eggs
1/3 cup of oil
1/2 cup of water
1/2 cup of peanut butter
4 Butterfinger candy bars crushed
Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups Skulls Fun-Size
Buttercream
2 sticks of butter softened
3 cups of powdered sugar
pinch of salt
1 tsp of vanilla
milk if necessary for thining
Directions:
Make cake batter according to directions on box. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir in peanut butter and 1/2 of the crushed butterfinger pieces. Divide evenly into a lined cupcake tin. This recipe filled 21 cupcake liners for us. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. While those are baking, make the buttercream. Add all ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix until it becomes icing. Add a dash of milk if necessary for thinning. When cupcakes are cool, top them with buttercream. Roll each cupcake on the edges in the remaining portion of crushed butterfinger. Top with Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups Skulls Fun-Size. Brush the skull with edible metallic dust, and add some candy eyes, or red icinig to make the features more creepy and pop! Enjoy!
