You know today’s world is filled with unhealthy images of a woman’s body. The image of what a woman should look like, act like, feel like is everywhere. How do I as a parent shield my precious daughter from these images? How do I raise her in a way that she’s sees herself as beautiful, strong and confident without needing to show her body, or conform to societal views? It starts with me.
I believe it starts with how I view myself, seeing myself as a beautiful confident woman. I can then pass those traits on to her. It used to be really hard for me to look at myself in the mirror and see a beautiful woman. So I decided that I would start telling myself everyday that I was beautiful, and I would list three traits that I liked about myself everyday. So regardless of what the world may have to say about me, those things I listed were ingrained in my psyche as truth. I can choose to take care of myself, my body, eat good foods and exercise.
As we get older, at least from what I am told we as women become more comfortable with ourselves. We like ourselves more. According to some research that was done 73% of women re-invent themselves at 40, and 80% of women love themselves more today than they did 10 years ago. So, maybe by telling myself that I am beautiful, and writing three things I like about myself everyday I am getting a jump on it.
One of the ways I can really solidify my quest to love myself more is choose good foods to put into my body. I recently had the opportunity to try Post Great Grains Cereal. I was really curious about was how it tasted. I have four boxes of different kinds of Great Grains sitting on my table along with a bowl, spoon and milk. I was all set to try them out! Here are my thoughts:
Great Grains Crunchy Pecans
I really loved the flakes and clusters and the maple flavor. But what I really loved was the real pecan halves; with lots of fiber and protein in this cereal it makes a great breakfast fueling choice.
Great Grains Protein Blend Honey, Oats & Seeds
This cereal was really like eating granola! I loved it, it was just sweet enough and I know if I choose to eat this then, I will getting some good all natural protein, and not a lot of sugar. What a great way to fuel my day.
Great Grains Raisins, Dates & Pecans
I really liked the bigger flakes in this cereal and the added benefit of dates and raisins. No skimping here on the pecans either, lots of fiber and protein in this cereal to keep you going all morning long.
Great Grains Digestive Blend Vanilla Graham
If you have a sensitive tummy, this is a great cereal to go to. The Vanilla taste is a great compliment to the graham pieces of the cereal and probiotics. You can’t go wrong with this amazing tasting cereal!
My personal favorite that I enjoyed of the cereals is the Crunchy Pecans. You can try all 8 varieties and see which one is your favorite! Great Grains has great nutrition that you can see…literally! Just look at my photos. The cereal comes in 8 different flavors so you are bound to find a cereal that fits your taste buds!

Love the giveaway… and my husband loooovvvvees cereal
I’d love to try this cereal. I keep seeing it in stores, have yet to try.
I need to add more fiber to my diet and this looks like a delicious way to do it.
I am always confused how much sugar should I add. Usually I add yogurt, but no sugar.
I was buying it to my daughter and get hooked and now she tricked me and started to ask only for the semolina for a breakfast.
Unfortunately, we don’t have the same taste with the honey, she dislikes it.
